2. Two quarters are laid on a flat surface so that the bottom of one quarter touches the top of the other as illustrated. Now suppose the top quarter is rolled around the other quarter so that their edges remain in contact. In rolling the top quarter entirely around the other quarter and returning it to its original position, how many somersaults will the top quarter make?
3. You arrive home and turn the switch on a lamp only to discover that the electricity is out. You need to leave shortly and want to return the lamp to the off position. The lamp's switch only rotates one way. Unfortunately, you do not remember if the lamp's switch is a two-way (turn once to on, turn once again to off) or if the lamp is a three-way (turn once to low light, again to high light then back to off).
